Meeting with the Treasurer - stay tuned
The meeting between Treasurer and Acting Health Minister Andrew Fraser and union officials and delegates on Friday went well.
After a full and frank exchange of views about the misleading ad in the paper the Treasurer acknowledged that the strike last Wednesday was significant and the government is prepared to engage in further urgent negotiations as a result. Your disgust at the misleading ad was certainly put on the record!
No formal offer was put on the table on Friday however the government has now started to work on one at the instructions of the Treasurer and Acting Health Minister.
Intensive high-level negotiations will continue this week. Our work-bans will remain in place.
Stay tuned to your email - we hope to have more news this week or early next week at the latest.
The ball is in the government's court. They are preparing an alternative offer and as soon as we have it we will let you know!
This is a step in the right direction however now more than ever we need to remain vigilant to push for a real offer - no cuts!
PS: Remember to update your details with your union office to make sure you get the message about an alternative offer straight away. if you would like to register your home email because you're going on holidays let us know by emailing hp@qpsu.org.au with your alternative address.
