Road to Recovery and a new HP Agreement
We hope that you and yours are coping well in the aftermath of the devastating floods. We know that you as HPs are vital to the recovery effort providing critical support to thousands of Queenslanders. Thank you for everything you are doing.
The public service response to this crisis has been magnificent.
We now have to also turn to ensuring your rights at work are secured, while you are helping others, and this means finalizing your new wages and conditions for 2010,2011 and 2012 in a formal agreement.
Together as a union in 2010 you stood together to change the outcome for all of you and your future colleagues for the next 3 years, including securing a 3% wage increase per year.
Now is the time to send the draft of the offer that has been worked up in to a formal agreement by your industrial team and have it signed off - so that everyone can bank their back-pay and use that to continue the road to recovery and building a better future for you and your families.
The next phase is to send a draft of the deal, written up as a formal certified agreement to Queensland Health, and once that is agreed with the appropriate legal wording you will be sent a ballot to vote on the formal agreement.
Once this ballot is finalized, if a majority of members vote 'yes' then the agreement is 'certified' by the Industrial Relations Commission, and then Health will process your back-pay and we can start working on the implementation.
To be reminded about the content of the offer you can find it here.
If you have any questions about this process email hp@qpsu.org.au.
Take care, we'll be in touch soon-
Your HP Stronger Together Team
PS: Over the last few weeks union members and delegates have helped to coordinate flood relief fundraising morning teas. This has made a huge contribution with the Townsville Hospital group raising over $2000 and The Prince Charles Hospital raising over $1800 just to name a couple. If you would like to host a fundraising morning tea in your workplace there is a kit of materials to help you do this at www.qpsu.org.au/floods. Or you can visit there to see the great photos sent in by members across the state doing their fundraising!
